Bio

My name is Marianna Abueva, and I am a professional volleyball player with more than 11 years of experience in the sport. I started playing volleyball at the age of 10, and since then, it has become one of the most important parts of my life. In 2014 I became a member of Azerrail junior club I began my career as a setter and took my place in senior Azerrail team in 2018.  This experience gave me a strong understanding of the game, court vision, decision-making skills, and a versatile perspective on the court.

As my career progressed, I transitioned to the opposite position. I have now spent five years competing in the Azerbaijan Super League as an opposite hitter, developing my attacking abilities while continuing to use the technical and tactical understanding I gained during my years as a setter. In total, I have eight years of experience competing in the Azerbaijan Super League. Throughout my career, I have represented several clubs in Azerbaijan, including Azerrail, Absheron, UNEC, MAA, and Ganja VK. I have experienced different roles within teams, both as a starting player and as a reserve, which has taught me how to adapt to different coaches, playing systems, teammates, and competitive environments. I became a national champion with “Azerrail” during the 2018–2019 season and have also achieved multiple podiums finishes throughout my career, including silver and bronze medals with “Absheron” and bronze medals with “MAA”(24/25) and “Ganja VK”.(25/26) Besides the Azerbaijan super league tournament, I also won golden medal in Azerbaijan cup with “Absheron vc”. I took part in Azerbaijan beach volleyball tournament in July 2025 and won 3^rd place with a “MAA” team. In December 2025 I became Azerbaijan snow volleyball champion with “Ganja vc”.

I have also been part of the Azerbaijan national team system, being included in the extended national team roster in 2023 and participating as a reserve player in the 2024 Golden League squad. These experiences gave me the opportunity to train and compete in a higher-level environment and motivated me to continue working toward my international goals.

I am 180 cm tall, with a spike reach of 285 cm and a block reach of 270 cm. As an opposite hitter, I focus on developing my attacking ability while continuing to improve my reception, defence, physical preparation, and overall versatility as a player. My experience as a former setter has also given me a deeper understanding of the game, allowing me to read situations on the court from a broader perspective.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

I consider myself ambitious, hardworking, disciplined, resilient, and highly motivated to improve. The different stages of my career have taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, consistency, and the willingness to keep working even when things do not go exactly as planned. I believe that every experience, whether positive or challenging, has helped me grow both as an athlete and as a person.

GOALS

My biggest goal is to establish myself as a consistent starting player, compete for championships, and continue my professional career internationally. I want to challenge myself in new environments, experience different volleyball cultures, and contribute to the success of every team I represent.
